About Jodie

Where to start?

My background is education based. I am a trained and qualified 11-19 teacher. I have worked in a few schools unqualified and qualified. My last official teaching position was in a sixth form as Acting Head of Social Sciences, with responsibility for assessment and feedback.

I left the above in 2016 for a few reasons: work-life balance, salary, the pressure of reaching and maintaining ‘outstanding’, and the lack of time I was able to dedicate to my Masters.

I still managed to complete my MA Sociology of Education with Distinction in 2017, whilst working as Student Information Team Leader at Coventry University London.

I never lost the love of teaching and my current position led me to the Personal Tutoring initiative. I have been able to successfully start our own Personal Tutoring Programme (PTP), which delivers a personalized service to students, from their first day, before their last.

With my team, I plan and deliver timetabled classes once a term, optional workshops and structured individual meetings. I have registered for the PGCert in APHE in order to develop my teaching abilities, ensuring they are appropriate for HE.

By the end of the course, I hope to have applied my to my taught sessions, developing an engaging and enriching programme, which students look forward to attending!

In my spare time, I love to read, bake and walk through forests.
